2003

The company light11.de GmbH was founded as one of the first online shops for premium lights by T. Unger in cooperation with an external programmer. Back then, the company comprised only a home office – one desk and a laptop.


2004

After one year of optimising the online shop, the first Google ads were run. The first significant turnover was generated at the end of 2004, thanks to the support of another mail-order company.


2005

In order to be able to manage the strong rise in turnover of more than 1,000%, three further employees are hired. A move into an external office becomes necessary. light11 receives the seal of approval from Trusted Shops, which labels the online shop as secure and reliable.


2006

Due to a further rise in turnover of more than 170%, a further relocation becomes necessary. The administration and the warehouse both move to Lünen which today is still the company's place of business.


2007

Thanks to a growth of more 3,000% in two years, the renowned business magazine "Impulse" and "Trusted Shops" determined light11 as the fastest growing online shop in Germany.
At the end of 2007, the light11 showroom in Lünen is opened with an exhibition area of more than 400 m². Here, light11 displays about 400 lights from more than 60 brand manufacturers.


2008

The first country-specific domains in France, England and further countries go online. light11 expands its service range by qualified planning services for lighting systems and completes the first larger-scale projects. The number of employees increases to 14.

The warehouse is expanded to 1,000 m².


2009

light11 withstands the economic crisis with an increase in turnover. By means of the first 130-page catalogue for premium lights with a printed run of 20,000 copies, light11 offers its customers an unrivalled high-quality and comprehensive source of information. With the introduction of the catalogue, the four pillars of the sales strategy were set up: online shop, printed catalogue, showroom and lighting projects. This multi-channel strategy offers every customer the appropriate sales channel.


2010

light11 engages further employees in all areas and thereby creates the proper conditions for further growth in the two-digit range. At the end of the year, the second catalogue for premium lights which now contains 200 pages is published with a print run of 30,000 copies. The light11 service is rated as "very good" by the customers.


2011

More clearly arranged, more convenient, new functions: the new light11 online shop is launched. High-resolution images, images of the different colour versions of a product as well as 3D views are only three of the useful function. At the same time, the portfolio is expanded by numerous brands. 2012

The fourth catalogue presents the innovative light configuration tool for the Componi lights by Cini&Nils. It enables you to configure a light in accordance with your own individual requirements. The modular design system of this light family allows for countless creative combination possibilities. Focus on the planning of lighting installations: the competent planning team supports the customers in finding customised lighting solutions either in the showroom or at their own home.


2013

Due to the constantly growing number of employees, new office space is rented. The professional planning of lighting solutions is expanded by an individual, high-quality light planning folder which allows you to choose between three different planning packages. In comparison to the first version of the catalogue from 2009, the number of the pages of this year's catalogue has more than doubled so that the customer is offered even move light innovations and design classics.


2014

In 2014, light11 further increases its number of staff – by now, more than 40 persons are working at the place of business in Lünen. Thanks to the new employees, new projects can be realised: the light11 service is further improved, the delivery times become shorter. Our product range is expanded by some well-known manufacturers – our customers can now choose their desired light from more than 9,000 products from 80 renowned brands. Furthermore, light11 celebrates its eleventh birthday in 2014 which is a very special anniversary.


2015

2015 turns out to be a particularly successful year for light11. The light11 team becomes even bigger and now comprises more than 50 members that support the company in the areas of Marketing, Service, Logistics and Showroom. Additionally, we are proud to report that in 2015 a further light11 showroom was opened in the stilwerk Dortmund. Moreover, it should be noted that light11 also launched an Italian online shop. This means that light11 now offers its lights in seven online shops available in five languages.
